Daura Attack UPDATE: Three Nigerian soldiers, Five Gunmen Killed

The Nigerian Army on Friday confirmed that three soldiers were killed in an attack by gunmen in Daura, Katsina State. Garba Wahab, the General Officer Commanding, GOC, 1 Division, Nigerian Army, who disclosed this to newsmen in Kaduna, said several of the attackers were also killed.

 

Earlier, the police commissioner in Katsina, Abdullahi Magaji, said five of the gunmen were killed.
The police commissioner said the gunmen bombed two police stations and four banks in the town on Thursday night.
Mr. Wahab said that the army and other security personnel had cordoned off three areas in the city and were conducting a house-to-house search 'to fish out some of the wounded gunmen who forced their way into peoples' homes.'
He also said that the army was coordinating with security agencies in Niger Republic as "80 to 90 per cent of these gunmen are not Nigerians."
Mr. Wahab said the gunmen had attacked four banks and stole some money, adding that a vehicle loaded with the stolen cash was recovered, in addition to four AK-47 rifles.
He said that the operation to fish out the culprits was ongoing, and advised residents of Daura and the neighbouring local government areas of Baure, Sandamu, Mashi, and Dutsi to cooperate with security agents by reporting suspicious movements around them.
"What happened this morning is similar to what happened in Bama where the gunmen burnt prison and police stations to divert attention," he said.
Mr. Wahab appealed to journalists to support security agencies in the fight against terror, saying it was the collective responsibility of all well-meaning Nigerians to work for the peace and stability of the nation.
"Let us stop patronising criminality. Whether they are terrorists or armed bandits, the truth is that they are against the Nigerian state, and that is the bottom line," he added.

Beyonce: I Am Afraid My Daughter Will Hate My Voice

BEYONCE has revealed she does not sing her hits to her baby daughter - because she is scared the tot will hate her voice. 

The superstar said she fears singing to Blue Ivy in her performing voice in case she starts crying. 

 

Instead of using her 'Beyonce voice', the pop sensation revealed she uses a 'simple Mummy voice' instead. 

 

She said: "I have a Mummy voice. I keep my Beyonce voice for the stage and I have my simple Mummy voice. 

 

“I remember hearing a story about Celine Dion and she's like when I sing my, I don't know if it was her son that cried. She has the most beautiful voice in the world but she's like he hates it. 

 

“So I said well maybe I’ll just give a little simple nursery rhyme voice to my toddler." 

 

The songstress went on to say she believes music is important for children because it gave her self-esteem when she was younger. 

 

She said: “I felt like this is what I’m good at, this is what I love. It was my escape, it was my focus and I think we’re able to communicate with music more so than anything. 

 

“Just travelling around the world and seeing the power and how much unity it brings so many people is really incredible. 

 

So always when I’m able to express myself with a song I’m able to translate my message a lot better, for whatever reason.”

Nigerian Military Continues Sambisa Forest Operation

At least 20 Boko Haram fighters were killed in a fierce battle on Thursday in the Sambisa forest enclave of the sect after federal troops launched a land and aerial attack on their camps, security sources said.

 

This information was obtained after security forces sanctioned the restoration of grounded GSM networks on Friday.

 

A top security official told that the grounded GSM networks were part of the military strategy to slow down the communication of the Boko Haram who are spread in camps in the forest of Sambisa, Mafa, Wulgo and Kirenowa axis of Borno state. He said Friday’s restoration of networks was “for some few hours’.

 

“So far so good, there has been positive progress in the ongoing operation in Sambisa, and we are not pulling out until we are done with them,” the source said.

 

“After a surprise raid, yesterday (Thursday), at least 20 of the terrorists were gunned down by our troops and several are running around the jungle with serious injuries.”

 

Sambisa, a forest that spreads over a distance of 300sq km from Damboa up to Gwoza, Bama and the Cameroon border, has been a hideout and training camp of the Boko Haram. It was first discovered early this year when a military raid was launched there.

 

Apart from the afternoon blast of Wednesday that left two persons dead in the Post Office Central area of Maiduguri, the city has so far enjoyed over 48 hours of calm without a sound of gunshot since the declaration of State of emergency.

 

President Goodluck Jonathan declared the State of Emergency in Borno, Yobe, and Adamawa States on Tuesday evening.

Army Invokes Dusk-to-dawn Curfew In Adamawa, As Nyako Questions Emergency Rule

The Nigerian Army has imposed a dusk-to-dawn curfew across Adamawa State, one of the three states that had a state of emergency imposed on them by President Goodluck Jonathan for a massive military onslaught to flush out members of the Islamic sect, Boko Haram.

In a statement signed by the Nigerian Army spokesperson in Adamawa, Mohammed Nuhu, the army urged all the residents to abide by the curfew.
Also, the spokesperson for the Defence Headquarters, Brigadier General Chris Olukolade said, “every resource available” to the armed forces would be used in the operation against Boko Haram.
This is coming just as the Governor of Adamawa state, Murtala Nyako, in a statewide address questioned the inclusion of the state among those affected by the emergency rule, noting that the state is the most peaceful among all the six states in the north-east region.
Mr. Nyako, however, pledged his support for the emergency rule as he urged the residents of the state to remain calm and prayerful during this critical time.
He also asked parents to keep watch over their wards stressing that women and youth, suffer most during emergency rule.

LASG Jails 120 Beggars, Ejects 1,708 Others

One hundred and twenty beggars and destitute have been convicted just as 1,708 of them were sent packing from Lagos State to their various states and countries by the government.

Special Adviser to the Governor on Youth and Social Development, Dr. Dolapo Badru, said this on Thursday during a press conference in Ikeja.
Reacting to the civil society organisations’s condemnation of the government’s clampdown on beggars, he said the present administration respected the rights of persons living with disabilities, adding that government would, however, not bend the law when such groups of persons fall foul of the law.
He said, “Nearly everyday when my men go on enforcement, this same set of people draw daggers and knives on my staff; they stab and bite them to evade arrest because they broke the law and when such a person is taken to court to be convicted, a person sits down in his air-conditioned office raining abuses on us for doing what is right.”
He noted that some of those convicted posed as beggars in the traffic to rob unsuspecting motorists. He vowed that government would not stop its clampdown on them until the trend was nipped in the bud.
He said the 1,708 beggars and destitute ejected from the state were either sent back to their states of origin, while foreigners among them were repatriated.
He said the rehabilitation office dealt with the issues of begging and destitution in the state and that in line with the government’s policy of ridding the streets of such persons, the office had consistently embarked on an aggressive raid of beggars, mentally challenged and the destitute from the streets, highways and bridges of Lagos.
Badru stated that the mode of getting this category of persons into the rehabilitation centres was by referrals from members of the public and rescue operations carried out by the Office of Youth and Social Development.
He said, “In the last one year, a total number of 3,114 beggars, destitute persons and mentally challenged were rescued in day and night operations.
“No fewer than 2,695 were taken to the Rehabilitation and Training Centre, Owutu, Ikorodu, where government has provided facilities to help in turning their lives around.
“Forty-eight children and toddlers were transferred to the Child Protection Unit; another 48 street children, cleaning windscreens at intersections, were rescued and transferred to the Special Correctional Centre for Boys, Oregun; eight were transferred to the Child Transit Home, Idi Araba, while 315 Persons (203 male and 54 female) suspected to be criminals were handed over to the task force for prosecution.”

Pastor Takes Pictures Of His Wife Privates Parts, To See If She Had Sex At Church

The man of God and 'Mai Mufundisi' are currently based in Epworth.

Pastor Philmon Chitewe, who leads an unnamed church in Murewa, is alleged to have used force to take pictures of his wife's vagina out of suspicion that she was having sex with other men behind his back.

As if that was not enough, Pastor Chitewe went on to chuck out Mai Mufundisi Olivia Rukai from their matrimonial house on accusations that she was demanding MORE SEX and having a sexual relationship with other men.

This was heard at the Harare Civil Court where Olivia had dragged the man of the cloth seeking a protection order against him. She complained that Pastor Chitewe preached what he did not practice and had turned her into a punching bag.

"I am married to him but he is abusing me. It has been hard for me to leave him because I was afraid to tarnish his image since he is a pastor. But he has been failing to live within what he preaches. He accuses me of having an affair with our son. He threatened to take another wife despite the fact that we are legally married. We had our wedding in 1990 under Chapter 5:11," said Mai Mufundisi.

Pastor Chitewe had no kind words or his wife accusing her of belittling him in bed. He said Olivia told him that he was weak in bed and was failing to satisfy her each time they had sex.

"She said I am not good in bed. She said I was failing to satisfy her in bed each time we have sex. I never chucked her out of the house but she left on her own. I never assaulted her," said the man of God who was allegedly accused of having poor sexual tricks.

Pastor Chitewe said he still loves his wife and wanted her to return to their matrimonial home. He begged for the court to 'sweet talk' his wife so that they would return home together soon after the hearing.

"I still love her and I want her to go with me after this hearing. I am staying alone and I need a woman to stay with. If possible, talk to her so that we can go home together after the court," said the Lord's servant, a sentiment that touched quite a number of people who were attending the court session.

Magistrate Vongai Muchuchuti ruled in Olivia's favour and ordered Pastor Chitewe to desist from abusing his wife.

A pastor from Murewa reportedly took pictures of his wife's private parts upon her return from church as a way to inspect if she had had sex with another man at church.

Prophetess Arrested For N5 Million Passport, Land And Fraud

 

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a prophetess, Annie Chukwurah, for allegedly defrauding a businessman, Charles Ikechukwu and his brother Sunday Ikechukwu, to the tune of N5,225,000.
PUNCH Metro learnt that the suspect allegedly collected money from Charles in order to acquire a Guyana Passport.
Charles said, “She (Chukwurah) used to pray for me before I left Nigeria for Switzerland. On getting to Switzerland, I knew I would soon be deported so I called her for prayers.
“She then said she could help me acquire a Guyana passport but I would need to pay N1,150,000 for the passport and ticket.
“She explained that with a Guyana passport, I would not need a visa to enter certain countries so I gave her the money.”
Charles said he also sent N3.5m to her to buy a piece of land for him but she embezzled the money.
According to police sources, the suspect also collected N1,355,000 from the victim’s brother in order to start a charcoal exportation business.
Sunday said, “She (Chukwurah) said there was a business opportunity in the United States which entailed the exportation of charcoal. I gave her over N1.3m but till now, she has not said anything meaningful about it.”
According to police sources, a Guyana passport was retrieved from the house of the suspect.
One of them said since Guyana had no embassy in Nigeria, it would be difficult to confirm if it was original or fake.
The suspect admitted she collected money from the brothers but said her intention was not to dupe them. Chukwurah added that she would pay the money back.
She said, “I am the General Overseer of Fire of Revival Ministries located in Ipaja. I have members and I am an honest person. I collected N950,000 for the passport because that is the real cost of acquiring a Guyana passport.
“The remaining money was invested in the charcoal business and if I’m given enough time, I will pay the money.”

I started hearing some unimaginable stories of her escapades with men each time I visited Nigeria, but I kept my cool. She was also reported to be having an affair with a popular Fuji star who also denied the allegation.
She had on several occasions connived with some people to kill me, which I survived by the grace of God. For the records,

I have a recorded phone conversation of that’. According to Ayila, he gives Gbemisola 1 Million Naira as monthly allowance. As for the said mistress, Ayila defended that he’s now legally married to her.

He described the new woman as a very responsible, God fearing lady who is his wife and not a mistress, as claimed by his estranged wife

Policeman Dies In Shootout With Armed Robbers

 

A policeman with the Special Anti Robbery Squad Ikeja, Corporal Sunday Fafoluyi, was killed on Thursday in a shootout with armed robbers at Ifo, Ogun state.
Fafoluyi, in company with other members of his unit, had left Lagos for Ifo, to arrest a suspected armed robber, Morufu Aleba, at his home in Ifo. Aleba was said to have been given away by some members of his gang, who were arrested in the Alagbado area
It was gathered that Aleba was with two suspected robbers at his home, who joined him in engaging the police in the shootout.
A source said, “The incident happened about 4am on Thursday. Somehow, Aleba noticed that his home had been cordoned off by the SARS. The robbers opened fire on the team. In the process, Fafoluyi was fatally wounded; he later died from his wounds.”
Aleba was also said to have died from fatal wounds sustained in the shootout while his companions scaled the fence of his house to safety.
Fafoluyi was a recipient of the 2011 Lagos State Governor’s Gallantry award and the IGP commendation award for courage.
The Lagos Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ngozi Braide, said she did not have the detail of the incident.
