In a statement in Yenagoa by his Chief Press Secretary (CPS), Mr Daniel Iworiso-Markson, the governor expressed satisfaction with the judgment of the court, presided over by Justice Akambi Lambo.
“The victory is for the nation’s thriving democracy and for the people of the state. No legal battle instituted or about to be instituted can distract us from delivering the dividends of democracy to our people.
“This judgment is a welcome development for the people of the state,” the statement said.
The court had ruled that there should be an end to litigation on the case brought before it by Sylva challenging the emergence of Dickson as the PDP candidate in February 2012 governorship election in the state.
The court held that the repetitive filing of the case was an abuse of judicial process, adding that the matter had exceeded the constitutional three months period for litigation as stipulated by the Electoral Act.
The statement said that the ruling had further confirmed his earlier submission that the nation’s judiciary remained the last hope of the common man.
It commended the people for their support for the government and assured that his administration would remain focused in delivering the divided of democracy. (NAN)
