The mystery of monogamy: scientists claim to have the answer
Study says some species have become monogamous through evolution and, for primates, infanticide is at its root
As an enduring mystery of the human condition, it has been
praised and damned in equal measure. It is a bridge over the abyss of
isolation but can be a bit like croquet: easy enough to grasp the rules
but a hard game to enjoy.
Now scientists in Britain have taken the puzzle of monogamy and boiled it down to one big question: how did it come about in the first place? A new study claims finally to have an answer.
"Humans have ended up monogamous to some extent, it's the predominant way we live," said Christopher Opie, an anthropologist at University College London. "What we have now is an evolutionary pathway for the emergence of monogamy."

Watch hair relaxers!
Permed
hairs are pretty. They are good to behold. Any woman with lovely and
relaxed hair makes heads turn. A number of women love to perm their
hairs but not everyone will love the adverse effect of a permed hair
gone bad.
Which hair relaxers do you use? Where do
you buy them? Do you have a ‘test’ before applying any relaxer on your
scalp? There is need to know this before you go to the salon.
Your scalp is a very sensitive part of
your body because of its covering for the veins which supply blood to
the brain. Any progressive damage to the scalp could lead to the
thinning of the skin layers, thus exposing vital veins.

Kids can save money too
Children
usually want to spend money they receive immediately. As parents, you
need to teach them how to save money. Although it is not an easy task,
you may have to tell them the benefits of a saving culture in
exaggerated ways
Envelope or jar technique
Let your child make a daily habit of
keeping money aside in a jar or an envelope from their pocket money.
Target a percentage, for instance, 10 or five percent. A child who gets
N100 as pocket money can save N10 each time the money is given to him.
They could have two jars, one containing savings for long term goals and
another for short term goals.
Consult the doctor in your phone
Health
is wealth. But as desirable as it is, it can be an expensive asset
based on what it takes to engage a qualified doctor, pay hospital bills
and buy quality drugs. The implication is that it is important to be
aware of some other ways one can, at times, access things one will get
in a conventional hospital.
One of such is provided by advanced
technology, through which you can now manage your health and also keep
track of how healthy you are living. Specifically, with a mobile phone
in your hand, your health may not solely be in your doctor’s hands
again.
