The 32-year-old defender made back-to-back appearances for the first time since February by featuring in Sunday's 2-0 defeat of Swansea which saw Chelsea consolidate their position in the Premier League top four.
Terry has hinted at a possible England return but Benitez declined to comment on the prospect of the skipper coming out of international retirement which was prompted by his Football Association charge and subsequent ban for racially abusing QPR's Anton Ferdinand.
"That is not my business," said Benitez. "My business is to keep him as fit as possible for every game.
"I only speak to him about Chelsea."
Another of Chelsea's old guard, Frank Lampard, attracted praise following the victory after netting his 201st Chelsea goal.
After setting up Oscar's opener, Lampard, who began the game as a substitute, converted a 45th-minute penalty to move within one of the club record held by the watching Bobby Tambling.
The midfielder is 35 in June, out of contract this summer and his future remains uncertain.
"Frank is a great player," added Benitez.
"I'm really pleased he's scored another goal and hopefully he can score five between now and the end of the season and he'll be much happier and we will be the same."

photo Tottenham winger Gareth Bale has played down talk of a summer move away from White Hart Lane.
Bale was speaking after collecting the Professional Footballers' Association Player of the Year Award and Young Player of the Year awards.
The 23-year-old's consistent performances have propelled Spurs towards a top four finish this season.
But Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas has admitted he fears losing the Wales international if the club fail clinch a Champions League spot.
Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona are among the teams already linked with Bale, but the player insisted his focus is on Tottenham.
Bale said: "I just take no notice, it's all speculation, I can't do anything about it.
"I just concentrate on my football and play as well as I can and do my best for the team."
Spurs legends Ricky Villa and Ossie Ardiles joined those saluting Bale's excellence and then spoke of their hope that he remains at White Hart Lane this summer.
"He really is a great player, a top player," Villa said. "He is one of these players who can do different things.
"I expect that he will stay at the club - they have a chance to qualify for Europe and this is a good point for him. I expect him to play for the club for two or three more years.
"Everyone wants to play for these big, big clubs, but he has a lot of things to do for Tottenham.
"Maybe in the next few years he will need to move, but at the moment I believe he is expecting to win something important with this club. This is very important for him, I think."
Ardiles, who moved to Spurs 35 years ago with his compatriot Villa, is also confident that Bale will stay at the club.
He concedes the chances of the player being tempted to leave, though, will increase if Tottenham do not qualify for the Champions League.
"As Villas-Boas has said, we need to be in Europe to keep him and I think this is what is going to happen," said Ardiles, who played 311 times for the north London club.
"He is very happy playing at Spurs - he is a big idol there and a big hero. At the moment he is very happy indeed.
"From the point of view of a Tottenham supporter, I hope he stays for as long as possible at the club."
