150 Delta Students Get N750m Scholarships
The governor, who was represented by his deputy, Amos Utuama, stated this on Monday in Asaba while responding to resolutions reached by children parliamentarians at the 2013 children’s day celebration.
He said, “All First Class honours students at any university, home or abroad, receive N5m each as bursary award every year.
“The Child Right law has been domesticated, and no child in Delta State must be denied quality education and other basic necessities of life”.
The children parliamentarians, who held their deliberations at the main chamber of the Delta State House of Assembly, urged the state government and the Federal Government to ensure that about 10 million Nigerian children acquire basic education.
The majority leader of the children’s parliament, Miss Jarikpe Constance, who represented Sapele constituency, moved the motion for educating the 10 million Nigerian children and member representing Isoko South II, Master Albert Afoke seconded the motion. Children’s speaker, Miss Onoberihie Elohor, then conducted the debate on voice vote and the yes had it.
Uduaghan noted that his administration’s micro-credit scheme and the entrepreneurship programme were policies aimed at brightening the future, caring and giving hope to the Deltan child.

Live Sex Show Busted Inside Utah Movie Theater Allegedly Had Janitor As Ringleader

A janitor tasked with cleaning a Syracuse, Utah, movie theater is in a legal mess for allegedly organizing a live sex show at the cinema.

Anael Ibanez, 36, allegedly set up an x-rated act by contacting potential participants through Craigslist, according to Fox Salt Lake City. He was arrested on Thursday along with five others, four of whom were participating in the after-hours event and one who was watching, cops said.
“He had kind of a tiered schedule,” Syracuse Police Chief Garret Atkin told the station. “So they would pay $75 if they wanted to actually be involved in the performance, $50 for a second row seat and $35 for a third. To prove how many people he thought were coming, he told our undercover informants, when they showed up he said, ‘I don’t have any seats left in the first two rows.’”
When the cops made the bust only six people were there, the station reported.
According to the Associated Press, Krystle Morales, 21, Lillian Scott, 22, Shelby Boyce, 21, and Troy Manning, 33, were arrested for allegedly taking part in the sex show. Terrill Holiday, 43, was arrested for allegedly watching.
The AP reports that police don't think the theater owners had any idea their business was being used for pay-to-watch fornication.
“We only just heard about it early this morning ourselves, and we’re absolutely shocked and appalled,” John Shorba, vice president of operations for United Entertainment Corp., which owns the Syracuse 6 theater, said in an email to the Standard-Examiner. "We are a family-owned company and of course do not condone actions like this.

Ex-MBGN Munachi Abii In Love With 18-Yr-Old Rapper

photo
Beauty queen turned rapper Munachi Abii is romantically involved with Pop group, L.O.S band member Olade Brisbe better known as Briss.
The couple, we are told, have been in a hot romance for the past few months and they’ve managed to keep it under the wraps with only very close friends in the know.
We are also told Muna has confided in her close friends, telling them she’s in love with the 18-year-old rapper. Briss, an upcoming rapper started gaining buzz when the Urban-Pop music group L.O.S (the group consists of three other members – Yung, Tomi and Bridge) signed with Storm Records and released their popular single 'Bad guy P'.
Briss who is currently an undergraduate in a Dubai university spends time shuttling Lagos and the U.A.E but his schooling hasn’t stopped the ‘lovers’ from hooking up – sources tell us Briss, (who is from quite a wealthy family) has on several occasions flown Muna over just to be with her.
Briss last April posted a photo of himself and Muna cooling off in a Dubai beach. ‘At the beach.. Ofcourse Muna being a mess lol #dubai’, Briss wrote as he posted the photo on his Instagram. Muna in turn has been quite supportive of Briss and his group’s music. If she’s not tweeting about their new songs, she’s chatting up with the other band members.
Some dated tweets between Muna and Briss also suggest there’s something holding on between them:
@muna01: ‘@BrisB_LOS duuuude wen r u back?
@BrisB_LOS: very very soon muna! booked a flight already tho. How you now?
@muna01: @BrisB_LOS: chillin boo.
@BrisB_LOS: hope your good sha.
But speaking with NET over the telephone Muna denies being romantically involved with Briss. ‘That sounds ridiculous, I’m in a relationship with someone else’, Muna told NET.
Muna turns 26 this November. In 2007, she won the Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria beauty pageant.
Before the MBGN crown, she had however shown interest in music, rapping under the name Babyrella. She recorded a rap duet with Terry tha Rapman whom it is rumoured she dated at that time.
In 2010, she changed her name to Muna and signed a management deal with Ayo Shonaiya’s RMG Company, launching her music career.
She has gone on to feature with the likes of Waje, Kel, Michael Word, Banky W, DJ Jimmy JATT and Psquare.
And Briss is not the first Nigerian artiste Muna has been rumoured to be involved with. We are told she has also allegedly been involved with several other acts including D’banj, M.I, Wizkid and Peter Okoye. Of course the sister continues to – vehemently – deny these unconfirmed reports.

GradExchange, NDE, NECA, Set To Launch Job Portal

GradExchange, the first-of-its-kind job portal that gives employers access to pre-tested and pre-profiled graduates on a simple and easy-to-use centralized web portal, is set to kick off in Nigeria.
photo

The development follows the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in January this year, between Dragnet, the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) and the Nigerian Employers Consultative Association (NECA) towards simplifying the recruitment process in the private and public sectors of the country.
Mr. Robert Ikazoboh, the Managing Director of Dragnet Solutions, Nigeria’s foremost E-recruiting solutions providers and the promoters of GradExchange, said: “The GradExchange initiative was conceived to make the recruiting process smooth and seamless. With this initiative, companies do not need to spend money advertising for vacancies, either through the online or traditional media. They also do not need to spend long man hours and logistics in processing CVs. All they need to do is to log in to the portal and input the caliber of candidates that they are looking for along with the criteria they want and they are presented with candidates who fit their choice. Mr. Ikazoboh further stated that plans are in top gear to upgrade the other NDE Skills Acquisition and Vocation centres across the country to make the GradExchange service available to graduates all over the country.
While expressing delight at the development, Ikazoboh stated that the GradExchange initiative would help ease the impediments which the private sector faces in the current manual recruitment processes, and ultimately contribute to solving the problem of unemployment in the country. He also praised the efforts of the NDE and NECA, for what he described as their unwavering support for the project. “We can’t thank NDE and NECA for their support in bringing this project to fruition. For NDE to open up all of its skills acquisitions centers for this project really shows their commitment towards eradicating unemployment in Nigeria. NECA also deserves commendation for bringing their members on board. Without their unwavering support, we wouldn’t have come this far,” Ikazoboh said.

The GradExchange system will also make the job search process less difficult for job seekers. “What we find in the country today is that job seekers have to travel to major cities in the country just to sit for job tests. We all know that there really is no guarantee that they will pass the job tests at the end. And the risk of travelling the roads is something we must also consider.
But with GradExchange, all the graduates need to do is register online and schedule a test to be taken at any of the NDE Skills and Acquisition centers which are in all the states of the Federation. They will be screened using the computer based testing format and then they get the result almost at once and at no cost to them.
The GradExchange initiative also seeks to eliminate incidences of mercenaries and ghost candidates since the system will make use of CBT and biometrics to verify the identities of the applicants.
Dragnet solutions Limited is known for its variety of solutions aimed at redefining screening processes within the country and beyond.

Gunmen Abduct Bayelsa Ex-Perm Sec’s Wife, Injure Gov Aide’s Wife

Unknown gunmen, weekend, abducted the wife of a retired Permanent Secretary, Mrs Anne Ziworitin, in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State capital.

Also injured in a separate attack was the wife of the Special Assistant on Radio to the Governor, Mrs. Vivian Ikio Iziama.
Both incidents which caught  operatives of the state security outfit, Operation Doo Akpo, napping occurred Saturday night at Biogbolo, a suburb of Yenagoa.
While Mrs. Ziworitin was reportedly abducted along the Otiotio road area, Mrs. Iziama was injured with the butt of a rifle for refusing to part with the key of her Toyota Sienna car.
Mrs. Iziama‘s daughter, it was learnt, was inside the vehicle when the gunmen struck as she was about to drive into her compound. Her younger sister, who was about to open the gate, was forced to raise alarm on hearing the cry of her niece.
The hoodlums were said to have fled in a black Golf salon car with which they trailed their victim.
It was, however, learnt from a source close to the Ziworitin family that kidnappers of the retired permanent secretary’s spouse have demanded  N5million for her release.
Confirming the attack on his wife, the Special Assistant to the Bayelsa Governor on Radio, Mr. Ikio Benson Iziama, said a formal report had been made to the police.
Spokesman of the Bayelsa Police Command, Mr. Alex Akhigbe said though he was yet to receive full details of the incidents, the police’s effort at ensuring the security of lives and property in the state had led to the discovery of a cache of arms and ammunition at Koluama community in Southern Ijaw Local Government  Area of the state.
He said, “our Special Anti-Crime unit known as Operation Doo Akpo on Sunday, May 26, launched a search operation in Koluama Community in Southern Ijaw Area of the State and discovered 8 Pump Action guns, 5 AK47 rifles, 1,780 live ammunition and 19 empty cartridges buried in a room.”
The Police, he said, have commenced investigation into the discovery with a view to identifying the owners of the arms.

Boko Haram Tells Fleeing Terrorists Not To Give Up – Army

The troops deployed to flush out terrorists from Adamawa, Borno and Yobe states following declaration of state of emergency said they have intercepted messages by the leadership of Boko Haram urging sect members to regroup and refuse to give up.

It was learnt that the interception made by the military communication interceptors came about as continued combing of the camps and enclaves revealed fresh graves, more ammunition depots, vehicles and other equipment.
Also, 25 insurgents were rounded up by troops while three of them died, including a high profile terrorist identified as Abba who has been on the list of most wanted persons.
A statement by the Director of Defence Information, Brigadier General Chris Olukolade while giving the mission update reads, “troops of the special forces have intercepted messages sent to fleeing insurgents urging them not to give up but fight to the end.
“The attempt by some of them to heed the call was foiled at the weekend as they were trailed to some settlements and towns towards the border where they planned to regroup.
“Troops of the Multinational Joint Task Force carried out an operation which resulted in the capture and destruction of the insurgents assembly points sited in the outskirts of Kaneram Dan Katsina, Tumbu Dabino and Mallam Fatori area north of Baga.
“The towns and settlements have now been secured while cordon and search operation is also ongoing in the area after the insurgents have been dislodged”.
Meanwhile, 25 insurgents were rounded up while three died, including a high profile terrorist identified as Abba who has been on the list of most wanted persons.
“This incident happened during an encounter with troops of the task force as the insurgents were finalizing moves to carry out an extensive terrorist operation around Maiduguri.
“The captured ones were all apprehended with their weapons which include rifles, pistols, double barrel guns and various calibres of ammunition during a raid operation of the JTF in Kumshe and Bulunkutu area.
“Although they succeeded in killing a security operative of the Task Force, they were apprehended before their planned infiltration with more arms to cause mayhem in the city.
“In Sambisa forest, troops combing the forest continue to make more discoveries. A man who had been held hostage in the forest since last year escaped bound in handcuffs as his captors fled during the troops attack on the biggest camp in the forest.
“The freed hostage is being treated by the Task Force. The troops are dominating the forest as they find a number of fresh graves, more arms and ammunition, burnt vehicles and other equipment”.
