Fleeing Foreign Boko Haram Members Arrested

Five Nigeriens and two Chadians are among the fleeing insurgents apprehended by the Special Forces as troops continue their pursuit of terrorists dislodged from their bases, according to the information provided by the Defence Headquarters (DHQ).
Fleeing Foreign Boko Haram Members Arrested
This is contained in a statement issued on Thursday and signed by the Director of Defence Information in Abuja, Brig.-Gen. Chris Olukolade.
The statement reads that the seven insurgents were among the nine arrested at Tumbu Gini, a border town with Chad as they tried to cross the borders into Chad.
It's noted that the man suspected to be leading the group escaped with gunshot wounds.
The Defence Headquarters had observed that attempts were being made by insurgents and their collaborators to push into public domain, questionable and manipulated messages meant to misinform the public.
"The message, which calls for support from Afghanistan and Pakistan as well as other cohorts of the insurgents, is clearly a confirmation of the level of pressure which has been brought to bear on the insurgents.
There is indeed no cause for alarm as the insurgents are actually in flight, necessitating their call for help from their foreign allies."
The statement added that the operation to put an end to the activities of insurgents was continuing in line with the overall plans for the nation’s security.

Photos: The Sexiest Women In The Nigerian Entertainment Industry

Sexy – a word frequently used but more often in the incorrect context.
According to the Merrian Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary, sexy is described as ‘sexually suggestive or stimulating’, while the freedictionary.com defines it as; ‘arousing or tending to arouse sexual desire or interest’
Celebs often have the charm to command our admiration not just because of some talent, but mostly because they possess the killer looks and appeal that gets us excited about listening to or watching them.
In no particular order, we have profiled some of the women in entertainment that we consider sexy in all ramifications; a great body, beauty, sexual appeal, unblemished skin, confidence, successful career, public persona and charisma.
Genevieve Nnaji
Genevieve Nnaji - She is one of Nigeria’s most recognised actresses, even Oprah referred to her as the Julia Roberts of Africa. Her style is ingenious, simple and sophisticated. Every Nigerian magazine continue to jostle to have her on their covers. Despite the body enhancement trends, Genny remains an unblemished beauty with a flawless dark skin and her ever youthful looks makes her good enough to compete in any beauty pageant if age wasn’t a criteria.
Toolz
Toolz- Born Tolu Oniru, but well known as Toolz. She is a description of what you would call a total package; an extra thick body with curves, fine face, sexy voice and an on air persona that gets fans to always tune in to her shows. With a mind-boggling figure, Toolz is like the carving of a goddess, that many have always wondered what she would look like naked, having every feminine attribute in generous proportion.
Damilola Adegbite
Damilola Adegbite - It seems this damsel just recently came to the knowledge of her sexiness and since then she continues to do justice to that fact by flaunting it in our face. In just a few years, Damilola has transformed from just a regular TV star to a sexy screen diva. The actress and model has a very calm and soothing beauty that makes you want to get to know more about her… I mean more than she has already revealed.
Agbani Darego
Agbani Darego - Nigerians will never forget when this sexy model became the first black Miss World in 2001. There was just none good enough for the crown that year but our own Agbani. Twelve years later, she is still radiating with the poise, grace, class, beauty, and elegance that won her the title years ago.
Yvonne Nelson
Yvonne Nelson- Seems like almost every week she releases photos to justify why she is one of the sexiest and hottest actresses in Africa. For Yvonne Nelson, her hot body and ultra sexy long legs have become her strongest selling point; with  many male fans drooling.
Omotola-Jalade-Ekeinde
Omotola-Jalade-Ekeinde- She needs no elaborate description because she obviously oozes of sexiness so much that her fans (including her honey boy) have nicknamed her Omosexy. As the reigning queen of Nollywood and one of TIME magazine’s 100 Most Influential People in the World, her face on the cover art of any movie guarantees a hit because of how fans have come to adore and idolize her. When you think of her pretty face, her pretty smile, oh my god!…her backside! The mother-of-four is still every man’s desire, and even her husband know this…
Tiwa Savage
Tiwa Savage - Two words describe Miss Savage; sexy and hot. One of the things that she got going for her is the mild combination of beauty and talent. She’s also got that good girl-bad girl persona. On a good day, you would get to see her innocence, but on stage, she transforms into a wild version of herself and believe me, you don’t want to miss her on stage when she gets into her killer dance moves, clad in near-naked attires… One lucky guy, that Tee Billz.
Rita Dominic
Rita Dominic – With an impeccable dress sense and style, Dominic, 38, always gets heads turning whenever she graces the red carpets. Her choice of wardrobe is so on point and somehow, the clothes always seem to fit her perfectly. Her almost flawless light-skin and subtle kissable lips is what seems to get many men going crazy over her.
Chika Ike
Chika Ike - Chika Ike is one female celebrity that kicks with that sexual appeal everytime. The sexy and beautiful actress is endowed with a firm body to get any man running wild with sexual imagination. Since her venture into Nollywood, the recently divorced actress and two-time African Movie Academy Award (AMAA) nominee’s profile has risen to a sex symbol status, at least to many of her fans.
Munachi Abii
Munachi Abii- Since clinching the crown for the 2007 edition of the Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria (MBGN), Muna as she is now being called has grown in popularity and status. In 2011, Muna signed an endorsement deal with Unilever as a model for Lux and currently features in commercials for the brand. The 26 year old beauty queen turned rapper always gets a thumbs up for her sense of style, except for one time when her boobs almost popped out on her birthday photo.
Oluchi Onweagba Orlandi
Oluchi Onweagba Orlandi- From winning the coveted M-NET ‘Face of Africa’ in 1998,  Oluchi has gone on into the world of global high fashion, walking the runways for top designers of note and gracing the covers of the world’s most fashionable magazines. Now married with lovely kids, it is still hard for her to turn off her sexiness.
Jackie Appiah
Jackie Appiah- Jackie Appiah strikes one as a true African beauty with her beautiful dark complexion and full body size. Over the years, she has appeared in several movies garnering in Nigeria almost twice the number of fans she has in her home country. Her male colleagues think she is a great kisser…I may need to find out someday.
Annie Macaulay-Idibia
Annie Maculay - Although she is not known to be type to boast about how sexy she is, Annie, the wife of pop icon, 2face Idibia definitely has that sex appeal. The mother of one always dazzles with or without make up on. She can be in her occasional tomboy looks and still look sexy in it without a doubt.
Osas Ighodaro
Osas Ighodaro- When she was introduced to the cast of Tinsel, many wondered who this Hollywood-looking starlet was. The New York born Nigerian-American actress and former Miss Black USA 2010 is nothing less than an attention getter anytime, any day. She’s gorgeous, well educated and well spoken. And many a man, are now beginning to discover her…
Emmy Nyra
Emmy Nyra - As if her vocals on pop star, Iyanya’s ‘Your Waist’ wasn’t seductive enough, the rising singer brought sexy back in her music video as she continues on the waist winding mission. Coupled with her very pretty face, the Made Men Music Group’s First Lady who’s rumoured to be dating her label CEO Ubi Frnklyn, packs a heavy bum and thick thighs and she sure knows how to flaunt it.
Kate Henshaw
Kate Henshaw- At 42, Nollywood actress, Kate Henshaw still makes our list – thanks to a banging body that many in their twenties would kill to have. There’s no denying the fact that the single mother still got that sexual appeal that gets her always glowing anytime she’s on screen or on the red carpets.
Jocelyn Dumas
Jocelyn Dumas- You may remember her from rapper Lynxxx’s video for ‘Fine Lady’ as the Bride. Pretty actress and television personality Jocelyn Dumas definitely has the looks of a star. More than her talent, the 33-year old seductress is most admired for having a perfect ‘backside’.
Dolapo Oni
Dolapo Oni- She may not have the striking features of a super model, but Dolapo is smart, brilliant and intelligent, and that counts as sexy in my books. As a co-presenter of MNET’s Studio 53, she gives you that impression that she probably knows a thing or two about everything. Nothing sexier than a woman who can talk politics, economics and still watch and talk a football match with a man.
her body shape look exquisite.

South Africans Chase Nigerians Out Of Their Homes

No fewer than 23 Nigerians were forced out of their homes and chased out of Port-Nolloth community by some South Africans members of the community, accusing them of dealing in drugs.
South Africans Chase Nigerians Out Of Their Homes According to Diliora Ndubisi, the spokesman of Nigerians, the leaders of the African National Congress (ANC) Youth League in the area instigated some community members to force them out of their homes.

“All the members of the community had a meeting on Friday on the need to curb the selling and usage of drugs in the community. On Saturday a teenager committed suicide in a police custody and by Sunday some members of the community led by the ANC Youth League leader came to our houses asking us to leave the community.

“They said we are the ones selling drugs to their children. They destroyed and looted our property and one Nigerian was seriously beaten and is on admission in a hospital in Johannesburg now,” Ndubisi said.
He said that the attack, which targeted Nigerians only, can be attributed to envy and jealousy about the success of Nigerian businesses in the community amidst poverty and unemployment among South Africans living in the community.

Reacting to the attack, the Nigerian Consulate in Johanneburg, South Africa today criticised what it described as the xenophobic attacks on Nigerians living in the country.
Mr. Okey Emuchay, the Consulate-General of Nigeria in Johannesburg, said in Springbok, in the Northern Province of South Africa, that labelling all Nigerians in the country as drug dealers was “unacceptable.”
Emuchay said that it was the duty of the South African police to provide safety for South Africans and foreigners living in the country.

“We are not asking for too much from the South African government, it is the duty of the South African police to provide safety and security for every one living in South Africa.

“The Nigerian government will not send the Nigerian police to come and protect our nationals just like the South African government will not send her police to protect South Africans living and working in Nigeria.

“In as much as we will not encourage our nationals to engage in criminal activities, it is not acceptable to us that some people should label all Nigerians as drug dealers.

“If any Nigerian is caught dealing in drugs he/she should be arrested and prosecuted. But a situation where some people will act on rumours, attacking and harassing Nigerians will be totally resisted by us. If anybody has any information about any Nigerian dealing in drugs, such information should be given to the police to investigate and arrest those involved. It is the duty of the police to investigate, arrest and prosecute, and not the duty of any individual or group of persons to do the work of the police.

“In this case no arrest has been made, no prosecution and no sentencing of anybody, only some members of the community taking the laws into their hands and forcing out Nigerians from houses where they pay rent, sending them into the streets in this winter period,” Emuchay said.

The Consul-General said that the safety of the displaced Nigerians was the responsibility of the police.

“This is coming barely three weeks after President Goodluck Jonathan of Nigeria paid a state visit to South Africa, after a similar one-day official working visit by President Jacob Zuma to Nigeria.

“Nine MoU agreement were signed during the state visit to promote trade and investments between the two countries.

“If governments at the top level is working together to strengthen relations between the two countries, the people of the two countries should be encouraged to take full advantage of the bilateral cooperation in various ways, including business culture and interpersonal relations. Nigeria and South Africa have had a long history of friendship and cordial relationship and everything should be done in sustaining the relationship,” Emuchay said.
Ikechukwu Anyene, President of the Nigerian Union in South Africa (NUSA), commended the proactive step taken by the Consulate.

“I must on behalf of all Nigerians living in South Africa thank the Consul-General for the proactive steps he has taken so far in this xenophobia attack on Nigerians living here.
Brig.-Gen. Francis Hender, South Africa Police Service (SAPS), Cluster Commander, assured that no individual or group would be allowed to perform the duty of the police.

“I will go to Port-Nolloth personally to assess the situation there, and a team of crime investigators will be assigned to investigate the cause of the attack on Nigerians and the lady mentioned would be invited for questioning. She is not a police officer and cannot be allowed to get away with her actions,” Hender said.
Lebogang Abrans, ANC Regional Secretary, apologised to the Nigerian envoy on the attack and said there was need to engage with the community on how to allow the displaced Nigerians return to their homes

Could Nassarawa Killings Be Linked To Politics?

Oluwole Josiah writes that political calculations ahead of 2015 could be responsible for the recent violence which claimed the lives of over 47 security personnel in Nasarawa State
It is a village of not more than 30 houses, situated on a plain, sandwiched between Nasarawa Egon and Lafia in Nasarawa State. It is about 10km from the expressway leading to Lafia, the state capital. The people are poor and neglected. The roads are barely motorable and threatened by gullies expected with the torrential rains. There is no sign of government presence in Lakyo. The people have no schools, hospitals, police posts, no pipe borne water; only their farms, their culture and their Chief Priest.
This is the state of affairs at Lakyo village, where over 47 policemen and 21 villagers lost their lives in a mysterious and explosive encounter.
The nation was awakened to another bloodbath on Wednesday, May 8, 2013. This time, it did not emanate from the activities of Boko Haram insurgents in the north east, but from unlikely quarters – in a remote, government-forsaken village in Nasarawa State. The aggressors here are a barrage of law enforcement agents numbering 63, drawn from the Police Mobile Force and the Department of State Security.
They were well armed and battle-ready. Their mission, which is now mired in controversy, was to seize a 76-year-old man, simply known as Baba Lakyo, said to be the “custodian” of the Egon cultural heritage in Lakyo. This “heritage” is what is now known as Ombatse, a male only association of Egon youths.
The Ombatse has been tagged a militia and a cult by the Nasarawa State Government. According to the state governor, Tanko Al-Makura, members of the group moved from place to place to attack helpless victims; Churches and Mosques are not spared.
He told journalists in Abuja, a day after one of the group’s deadliest attacks, that, “two weeks ago, we discovered a certain militia group holding arms and carrying out cult activities in the state. Since January, this thing has not abated and in the past two weeks, it took a totally different dimension.”
The group has also been accused of forced initiations and violent attacks on those who dare to resist. Baba Lakyo, whose real name is Alla Agu, is said to be leader and spiritual head of this mysterious group.
The mission to invade the sleepy community and arrest Baba Lakyo went terribly awry. The 63 armed men were disarmed and after the dust had settled, 47 officers lay dead. Their vehicles comprising mainly Toyota Hilux trucks, were set alight and overturned. The few who survived have been unable to tell exactly what happened. The police claimed armed members of the cult ambushed the security officials. The villagers on the other hand denied any such gun battle ever took place. Herein lies the mystery.
The battlefield left little traces of violence. There is no forest or bush for anyone to hide. There was also no shrine as we know it. The atmosphere suggests a tranquil environment before explosive munitions defiled the peace of the vicinity. The villagers appear receptive to visitors as a jubilant crowd welcomed the long convoy of cars as Senator Solomon Ewuga led journalists into the community. The people were poor, very poor. They always greeted with their two hands up as if saying “I surrender” as they waved.
At the entrance to the village, a resident dared to write on his walls, “God punish poverty,” reflecting the desperation with which men and women struggle to survive. They are largely farmers. The whole area is a vast farmland. Both men and women busied themselves with either making ridges or weeding their farms. It was also interesting to behold Fulani herdsmen leading their cattle through the grassland for grazing. An Egon tribesman mumbled some words which sounded like, “they said we are attacking Fulani cattlemen. Look at them, they are here with us, we live together in peace; those who are causing troubles are not even from this community; they are not even Nigerians.”
In spite of the innocence and rustic outlook, Nigerians are holding Lakyo responsible for the death of 47 Nigerians who were supposedly on national duty. A lot of people preferred the mystic version of the stories being told about how the security operatives died. This is coming from the reputation Baba Lakyo has attained as a strong cult figure, who is capable of waging a war against an army relying solely on his mythical powers. It is rumoured that the security operatives died as they fired shots at Ombatse shrine. The myth has it that, bullets shot at the shrine backfired and killed those who fired them. It is also rumoured that the fear of the powers of the Chief Priest is the reason why security operatives could not return to the village to retrieve the bodies of their slain colleagues, and had to require the help of the Nigerian Red Cross society.
Baba Lakyo however denied taking part in the killings. He spoke to journalists at his shrine (a small court surrounded by two blocks of mud houses) in the heart of the village. He said the police came to kill him and destroy the village of Lakyo, “but my god did not allow them, so they died on the way.” His lamentations were that of a man whose heart was broken and appeared to fear for his life.
Speaking through an interpreter, he said, “It is the governor that asked the people (Police officers) to come here and arrest me, cut my head and take my head to him. When they came, because they were drunk, my god did not allow them to come to me and they died on the way. The question I ask is, has the governor ever invited me and I refused to go? But he sent people to come and kill me and to destroy Lakyo as a whole. That is just what it is.” He also claimed that he was visiting a nearby village when the incident occurred. Baba Lakyo denied that he ever forced anybody to belong to the Ombatse group.
The people of Lakyo are carrying a heavy burden. They have to explain to Nigerians what happened.
Lakyo is predominantly inhabited by the Egon people. They are under the umbrella body of the Egon Cultural Development Association.
Its National President, Mr. Chris Mamman, said there was a calculated attempt by very powerful forces in Nasarawa State to demonise his people. He argued that the Egon people were peaceful and hospitable, but what happened was an unfortunate incident that could not be explained. According to Mamman, only a Judicial Commission of Enquiry can unravel the mystery behind the Lakyo massacre.
If the Egon people of Lakyo are denying complicity in the whole saga, who then is responsible? They are pointing the finger of blame at the Governor of the state, Tanko Al-Makura. His complicity is extrapolated from the manner he ordered the execution of the Lakyo operation. Although as Governor, he is the Chief Security Officer of the State, the various security formations which are federal in composition, are expected to take orders from their respective headquarters before engaging in operations of that magnitude. The heads of the different agencies involved have denied knowledge of the operation. Heads may roll and people may be sanctioned. But the dead will not be brought back.
What has politics got to do with it? As 2015 is barely two years away, a school of thought blames the struggle for political advantage for the death of the security men. Senator Solomon Ewuga, by this theory, has been closely linked to the conflict. Feelers from the Nasarawa State Government are that Ewuga’s ambition to become the next governor of the state was instigating the Egon youths against the government and that culminated in the hostilities of Lakyo.
But Ewuga denied any involvement in the saga. He explained that he single-handedly campaigned throughout the state to ensure that his people voted for the current leadership. But the governor’s return bid might be the bone of contention. He said, “The governor said he wanted to come back, I told him, but you agreed with the people of Nasarawa State, you repeated it even after you were sworn in that you wanted to do one term. You tell me how we are going to tell the people of Nasarawa State that you want to come back. He hasn’t come back to me. So what is more frank than that kind of discussion? To allude to whether or not I want to run, my attitude is, it is my constitutional right, but I have not even reached that level of discussion yet.”
Ombatse, as a cultural group, may have metamorphosed into a political strike force on the crucible of the struggle for 2015. The answers are not forthcoming; the people are waiting for the next line of action. There is a stalemate, as Nigerians still ponder over the mysterious deaths. While the mourners are getting condolences, the political gladiators are not done with fine-tuning their strategy to consolidate power.

10 Skills That Impress Women

 10 Skills That Impress Women

1 Conversation
Difficulty to acquire: 6/10
Though it might not strike you as much of a skill when you’re shooting the bull with friends, conversation with women — in whom you’re interested and whom you don’t know well — is a skill, and one that takes some practice. Listening and actually paying attention becomes infinitely more important. You want to come across as both confident and empathetic, which is something of a balancing act. Being able to explain and adequately express yourself, though, can easily cover for lacking any of these other skills, which is why it’s so crucial.
2 Style and grooming
Difficulty to Acquire: 2/10
Every guy has his own personal style, but there’s a thin line between hipster carelessness and looking like a slob. It’s better to stay a comfortable distance on the clean-cut side of that line. There’s nothing difficult or even time-consuming about good grooming, but women often complain that men simply don’t bother to take care of their appearances, and the only excuse to let yourself go completely is laziness.
3 Bedroom skills
Difficulty to acquire: 6/10
s*x is important, even if not for its own sake, then because women often read into it emotionally and assign it its own relevance as an indicator of how you feel about them
4 Handyman skills
Difficulty to acquire: 4/10
This broad category covers everything a man can reasonably be expected to do in maintaining a home and doing basic repairs; none of this stuff is as complicated as working with a car, and it mostly comes down to having the right tools for the job and being willing to get your hands dirty. There’s virtually nothing the internet can’t tell you how to fix, but it’s no less impressive to a woman when you can be relied upon for all those repairs
5 Athletics
Difficulty to acquire: 6/10
As much as women want you to have an emotional, sensitive side, they still want you to be a man, and playing a tough, physically demanding sport is about as masculine as it gets. Bragging about your golf game might impress your coworkers, but it doesn’t have quite the same impact to a woman as boxing, football or some other high-intensity, testosterone-fueled activity.
6 Cooking
Difficulty to acquire: 3/10
You don’t have to take classes or start shopping for expensive cookware — just start small. Every woman, everywhere, is just a little bit pleasantly surprised to discover that a man can cook, actually wants to cook and seems to genuinely know what he’s doing, so begin by perfecting a handful of recipes. The bonus here is that you’ll soon be eating better and tastier food yourself. Once you’ve mastered a few classics (like making the perfect steak and some side dishes), expand your repertoire as you see fit.
7 Dancing
Difficulty to acquire: 4/10
If there’s one way to demonstrate that you’re confident, easygoing and approachable all at once, it’s dancing. On the surface, dancing is pretty straightforward, and there’s certainly nothing hard about it — you’re moving your body rhythmically, and how you’re doing it isn’t too important. The hangup here is feeling that you’re too uncoordinated or too shy to try, in which case it may seem daunting.
8 Fixing a car
Difficulty to acquire: 6/10
Learning how to fix a car will probably seem daunting if engines have mystified you up until this point, but luckily you don’t really need to know much. The objective is to understand enough that you maintain your car correctly and can actually diagnose car troubles (particularly in the company of a woman) instead of just opening the hood and looking puzzled. Besides, knowing the basics will make you seem like less of a rube to dishonest mechanics.
9 Playing an instrument
Difficulty to acquire: 7/10
For starters, playing an instrument well is just an impressive ability, period. It speaks volumes, to men and women alike, about your character. On the other hand, where another man might just respect your ability to master what is, for most people, not an easy skill, women will equate your ability to play an instrument with a poetic sensibility they might not otherwise have recognized in you.
10 Speaking other languages
Difficulty to acquire: 8/10
Certainly the hardest skill on this list to pick pick up as an adult, speaking a foreign language is a sign either of dedication (that you’ve taken the time and effort to learn) or of worldliness, and women will be intrigued by both of those, particularly if you don’t flaunt the ability and just let it come up at the right moment. Obviously you’re not going to learn a language overnight, but the resources are endless — you only need to supply the time.

photoOne of the housemates representing Zimbabwe in the ongoing BBA РThe Chase, Pokello Nare has been hit by a s̬x tape scandal a few days after she entered the BBA house.
According to Peacefmonline.com investigations, the said sex tape was acted and recorded by Pokello and her boyfriend Desmond Chideme also known as Stunner who is popular urban grooves artiste.

Stunner is famous for his role in a leaked sex tape in which he had sex with his socialite girlfriend Pokello Nare. In the video, he is seen having sex without protection with the girl that he is not married to. The ‘Godo’ hit maker also went public as he got circumcised in a bid to promote education on HIV/AIDS and how to prevent the Aids scourge.

photo
Apparently the sex tape was reportedly shot at his Avondale home with his girlfriend Pokello Nare. Desmond Chideme is his actual name and he’s a “Zimbabwean urban groover” – probably why we can’t find the tape because it would be hosted on a foreign site and written in another language – if popularity arises then we will seek further for the tape.

Harare-born Pokello has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Media and Communications and owns a luxury shoe boutique. She enjoys pasta, spaghetti bolognaise and prawn cocktail.

She describes herself as “dynamic, captivating, intelligent, beautiful & hilarious” and says that the best thing about her is that she’s head-strong and a woman of real substance. “When I speak, I speak with depth and confidence,” she says. She admires people who are selfless and filled with humility and modesty, disliking disloyalty and betrayal.

photoAsked what viewers can expect from her, she says: “I am beautiful, intelligent, controlling and entertaining. I am funny and witty and I say the most humorous things.

Pokello says if she wins the USD 300 000, she’ll buy a big house for her son and herself, send him to a full-time soccer academy in London and invest in her business.

Liverpool Striker Luis Suarez Again Hints He May Quit Anfield

photo Liverpool striker Luis Suarez has again hinted he may be leaving Anfield in the next transfer window.
Liverpool striker Luis Suarez has again hinted he may be leaving Anfield in the next transfer window.
The future of Suarez has been the subject of much speculation, with mixed messages emanating from the Uruguay international's camp in recent days.
Suarez indicated he would like to play in Spain earlier in the week before his agent told Sky Sports News the 26-year-old was happy at the club, but the player has now again alluded to his departure.
"It's a good moment for a change of environment because of all I've been through in England, where I haven't been judged as a player but based on other things," he said.
"I had a hard time, very hard, and the things that have been said are lies. One has limits and the family also suffers.
"It's nothing against Liverpool, on the contrary, I feel very comfortable at the club, but I have a daughter and I do not want to hear bad things about her father."
He added: "I do not know when I'm going and I do not know if I'm staying.
"If I stay it is because it is a great club but also in turn I know that it is difficult because of the harassment I get from the press.
"They treated me bad and it would be understandable if one day I go to my club (and the media are waiting for him) but I cannot walk my baby, the paparazzi are always there.
"My family, my image - that's what matters to me most. The coach and some colleagues know that I suffered, I was treated badly and I did not feel comfortable and they know perfectly.
"In England they talk about many things and in some ways I feel uncomfortable."
Real Madrid would obviously offer an escape from that but Suarez insists his reference to the Spanish giants in a radio interview on Wednesday was an understandable but not yet tangible one.
"England and Spain are the best leagues in the world," he said at a national team press conference ahead of a friendly against France on June 5 in Montevideo.
"It is normal that it is impossible to say no to big teams for which one always dreams.
"Yet I have nothing, I have not spoken with Real Madrid nor with Liverpool.
"My agent has not told me anything either and that leaves me alone, but they (the media) are speculating.
"Every time you do something is becomes big. I just said I'm very happy at Liverpool and I'll be forever grateful to this great city and this club made me grow so much, where I still have a contract."

The Brazil international, who usually operates at centre-back but was deployed in midfield at times by outgoing Blues boss Rafa Benitez, was previously a target for the La Liga side.
Luiz, who was one of the star performers as the Blues secured third place in the Premier League and Europa League glory, admits he admires Barca's style of play, but is in the dark over the latest speculation.
The former Benfica man is quoted as saying in the Daily Star: "My objective is to be happy and this is possible playing always in a team that controls the ball.
"Barcelona is the team that has developed the best football in the last few years.
"I know Barca were interested in my services in the past but now I do not have any news."

NAFDAC Recorded No Major Conviction Before 2009 – DG

photo The Director-General, National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, Dr. Paul Orhii, on Thursday said prior to his appointment in 2009, the agency did not secure any “major convictions” of fake drug makers.
The Director-General, National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, Dr. Paul Orhii, on Thursday said prior to his appointment in 2009, the agency did not secure any “major convictions” of fake drug makers.
Orhii, who addressed journalists in Lagos, however, noted that since he became the DG, the agency had secured seven “major convictions.” The agency came into operation in 1993.
Among the convictions, he said, was the recent imprisonment of two producers of My Pikin Teething Powder. The convicts bagged seven years each.
The Federal High Court, Lagos also ordered the forfeiture of assets belonging to the company, which produced the teething powder to the Federal Government.
According to Orhii, the judgment is a boost to his agency’s war against drug counterfeiting in the country.
He said, “On the day we secured the convictions of the producers of My Pikin, the owner of a bakery, who was charged with assaulting our officials, in Osogbo was convicted. It was a harvest of convictions that day.
“Since I came to  NAFDAC in 2009, the agency has secured seven major convictions of drug fakers. Prior to 2009, there was no major conviction. We have recorded several convictions and there are many cases that are on their way to court.”
Orhii said a proposal was in the making to ensure that a portion of assets forfeited by convicted drug fakers “is being used for compensating victims of the fake drugs”.
He added that the agency was developing new strategies to clamp down on fake drug makers, who, according tohim,  now import and manufacture the drugs to deceive unsuspecting members ofthe public.
He said, “There is now a shift in the strategies of the drug fakers. They now import packaging materials but manufacture the products locally.”

I Have a Crush on My Best Friend’s Aunt...

I’ve a Crush on My Best Friend’s Aunt...

I’ve fallen for my best friend’s aunt and she wants us run away together. I’m 19 and she’s in her 50s. It started when I went to a concert in London with my friend. His aunt lives in London and we stayed the night at her flat.
She’s single and has a great job. It was the first time I’d met her and I realised how beautiful she is. She has a better body than many 20-year-old girls. She’s funny, smart and sexy. I couldn’t take my eyes off her. I fell in love instantly.
We got chatting and I flirted with her for a while. It was getting very late and she said my friend and I couldn’t keep her up any longer, as she had to go to work the next day.
I got up in the middle of the night to get a drink of water. I turned round and she was standing there in amazing undies. We started kissing and spent two wonderful hours in her bed, having fantastic sex.
I went back to the other bedroom before my mate woke up. I didn’t say anything to him but she texted me next day, inviting me to go to her flat whenever I wanted. Of course I said yes.
I’ve been telling my family and mates I’ve been seeing an old school friend who moved away. It’s been going on for months and she says she wants me to go to live with her in London, where we’ll be well way from our families. I want this too but I don’t want to leave everyone behind and I don’t want to lose my mate.

'Sex addict from a young age' ... Kanye with girlfriend Kim Kardashian
The rapper has always spoken openly about addiction, admitting he has battle with an overactive libido since childhood.
During an interview with Details magazine in 2009, Kim Kardashian's boyfriend revealed: “People ask me a lot about my drive.
“I think it comes from, like, having a sexual addiction at a really young age.”
He later told The Sun in an interview: “I think I have a sexual problem, a sexual addiction. I want to do it all the time."

2) Russell Brand

 photo
Russ's love of the opposite sex is the worst-kept secret in showbiz.
In 2007, he estimated he'd bedded more than 2,000 women, prompting friends to coax him into rehab to treat his overwhelming sexual appetite.
The funnyman admits the experience was a sobering one, revealing: "There aren't hot blondes ripping off their clothes and saying, 'I'm gorgeous, and I just can't get enough!' It's just sleazy men pleasuring themselves in dark corners. Let's not shy away from it: they're paedophiles and perverts."
It seemed to have the desired effect - in 2009 he was tamed into marriage by Katy Perry.
But the relationship lasted just 14 months and Russell admitted he bounced straight back to his old ways - telling US shock jock Howard Stern: "I had a bit of a reaction (after the divorce).
"Like if you've been on a diet of rice for a while and then suddenly Willy Wonka said, 'I need you to run my chocolate factory'."
3) David Duchovny
photo
Break-up ... Duchovny's addiction ended his marriage to Tea Leoni
The actor plays a womanising writer in US TV show Californication.
So it was a case of life imitating art in 2008 when Duchovny checked into rehab to be treated for sex addiction.
Soon after his stint in the clinic it was announced he'd split from actress wife Tea Leoni - amid rumours he'd cheated on her with a string of women.
The couple later reconciled, only to split for good in 2011.
4) Tiger Woods
photo
Web of lies ... Tiger's claimed to have bedded 121 women
The golfing superstar's sex addiction came to light in 2009 when his wife Elin Nordegren found saucy text messages he'd sent to mistress Rachel Uchitel.
The resulting scandal lifted the lid on adultery on a grand scale.
Women came forward in their droves claiming to have romped with the millionaire while he was taking part in tournaments across the US.
After months of remaining silent, Tiger issued a statement, admitting he'd cheated and apologising to his wiife.
He then revealed plans to check into rehab "for issues", reported to be sex addiction therapy.
Although Tiger never confirmed the number of women he cheated with during his marriage to Elin - reports claim the number is as high as 121.
5) Jesse James

Therapy ... Jesse James admits he used sex to self destruct
The TV mechanic's six-year marriage to Sandra Bullock collapsed March 2010, after he was caught cheating on her with a tattoo artist called Michelle 'Bombshell' McGee.
McGee exposed the affair by selling her story to a US tabloid - forcing James to fess up to his Oscar-winning wife of six-years.
With his marriage in tatters, James, 43, checked himself into rehab in Arizona to be treated for sex addiction - amid rumours he'd cheated on Bullock with numerous other women.
In a later TV interview, he addressed his problems, explaining: "I don't think I have a sex addiction where I'm running around trying to have sex with everyone and I can't stop... I think I do things to sabotage my life, including having extramarital affairs, texting, overworking myself, injuring myself, doing stunts and stupid things."
6) Charlie Sheen
 photo

Prolific ... Charlie Sheen (with ex-wife Brooke Mueller) has bedded more than 5,000 women
Back in 2006, the womanising movie star came second in a Maxim magazine list of the top 10 living sex legends.
It was alleged he'd romped with a mindblowing 5,000 women. And he's certainly added to the tally since then.
A penchant for prostitutes and his well-publicized relationship with porn star 'Goddesses' Bree Olsen and Natalie Kenly both point towards sex addiction.
And he finally confessed that he's probably hooked during a heart-to-heart with US TV doctor Mehmet Oz in January
When asked if he's an addict, Charlie told Dr Oz: "Sure. (But) I don't know the definition of it is."

7) Ulrika Jonsson

Self-discovery ... Ulrika (with husband Brian Monet) confronted her addiction on a Channel 4 documentary
WENN
The TV presenter was stunned to discover she was a sex addict herself, while studying the subject for a Channel 4 documentary in 2007.
Ulrika visited therapists in the US to discover the true nature of the disease and what defines it.
The 45-year-old - who has been married three times and had a well-publicised affair with ex-England boss Sven Goran Eriksson - learned an addict was someone whose sexual behaviour damages their life.
And she came to the conclusion that she fits the profile.
She said: "I suppose thousands of us, who believed we were just unlucky or ill-used, might fit the bill (as an addict)."
Ulrika went onto examine the roots and causes of her addiction.
After much soul searching she realised her troubled childhood, living with an adulterous and porn-addicted father, was largely responsible for her attitudes towards sex.
8) John Mayer
photo
'Sexual napalm' ... Mayer was hooked on sex with his ex
The showbiz swordsman has more sexual conquests than he's had hit albums - with exes including Taylor Swift, Jennifer Aniston and his current on-off squeeze Katy Perry.
But it was one particular lover that left Mayer hooked on sex.
In a cringeworthy confession, Mayer told a 2010 issue of Playboy magazine that he was addicted to sex with his ex Jessica Simpson.
Describing her as "sexual napalm", he said: "That girl, for me, is a drug. And drugs aren't good for you if you do lots of them. Yeah, that girl is like crack cocaine to me."
He went on to add: "There are people in the world who have the power to change our values. Have you ever been with a girl who made you want to quit the rest of your life?
"Did you ever say, 'I want to quit my life and just f***in' snort you? If you charged me $10,000 to f**k you, I would start selling all my s**t just to keep f***ing you.'"
Simpson wasn't exactly flattered by his praise. She later told Oprah Winfrey: "I’m a little bit angry. I don't want people to know how I am in bed!"
9) Lindsay Lohan

Lindsay Lohan ... star admits she uses sex to overcome loneliness
If all the rumours about all her sexual conquests are true, the troubled starlet has hundreds of notches on her bedpost.
Confirmed conquests include Calum Best, Harry Morton, Brandon Davis, Aaron Carter, Wilmer Valderrama and McFly drummer Harry Judd.
When asked in 2007 if one of her numerous stints in rehab was related to an addiction to sex, she admitted: "It was a lot of stuff ...you know."
She added: "I enjoy having sex. Being an actress is lonely. I hate sleeping alone."
10) Denise Welch

Maneater ... Denise Welch 'loves sex'
The Loose Woman star confessed her addiction last year when she was chosen to be the subject of one of Piers Morgan's Life Stories.
When challenged on allegations she'd bedded 1,000 men, Denise admitted she was obssession with sex.
The 55-year-old, who had only just split from hubby Tim Healy, told Piers: "I like sex. What’s the problem with being a sexaholic? I just like s****ing.”

Ask Naija: "I Cheated On My Husband And My Lover Is Now Getting Married To My Sister"

I have only two weeks to confess or it would be too late. Years ago, when I was in England, I seduced one young man whom I eventually got pregnant for.
Though 10 years younger than I am, I couldn’t help myself as he had all the qualities I wanted in a man so I planned it all by inviting him to my house. I knew it was not going to be easy convincing him to have a relationship with me since I was still married to the brother of his elder sister’s husband. It was one of those days when my husband went to France. I wore one of my sexiest nightgowns, which showed off my fantastic body. It didn’t take too long for him to capitulate.
The relationship lasted for a year. It ended with my husband finding out about it when I became pregnant. He was very scared of the repercussion of accepting responsibility of the pregnancy. The shame of our relationship was too much for him; he left for Scotland. I went ahead to have the baby against the opinion of my friends and family members who expressed the view that I was taking it all too far. They didn’t understand my passion to have a baby when my last child was exactly 10 years old. To be frank, I didn’t understand it my self, I was ready to forfeit my marriage because of my passion for this boy and his child inside of me.
Since I didn’t have his address or contact in Scotland, I bore all the expense of the baby on my own. My husband didn’t bother to come back to England. He along with our first and second sons settled in France, he allowed me to keep the youngest child; our only daughter, because of her age. Needless to say, my children and family were all disappointed in me but I was beyond caring. It was a burning desire to be loved, a satisfaction that I was still attractive enough to attract the attention of a young man and a handsome man too.
Before the incident, my marriage and life was in comatose, my husband was either too tired to pay attention to me or too busy making money to care that I needed that special assurance only a man could give. The excitement in our life was missing, I tired discussing the decline in emotion satisfaction with him but he wasn’t listening. I had no choice but to follow the trend among women in England, having young lovers to give them what their husbands at home cannot give. For me, it was more than fun because I found for the first time that depth that I only imagined but never experienced.
Well, I came back to Nigeria seven years after that incident to discover the man my sister is getting married to, to be the same man who is the father of my seven year old daughter. The mistake was made because nobody in my family knew him. All they knew about the incident was that I got pregnant and had a baby for a man. He met my sister in Nigeria five years ago. He did not tell her about his child or me. Seeing him again after all those years brought back my feelings. I went in search for him, and blackmailed him into sleeping with me.
The reason I am writing to you is that he recently called my bluff, saying I could go to the roof top to tell the world about our affair and the child. Agatha. I am not selfish but I love him so much. I want him for myself. How do I make him understand this before he marries my sister? I also want my daughter to know who her father is. She has of recent started asking questions about her father. I want to inform my sister that her husband to be is my daughter’s father. What do you think I should do?

Teachers Begin Strike In 11 States

Nigeria Union of Teachers on Thursday urged teachers in 11 states to embark on strike from June 1 (Saturday).
Teachers Begin Strike In 11 States
The teachers are protesting against the non-payment of their 27.5 per cent enhanced salary scale and N18, 000 minimum wages.
The states are Cross River, Ebonyi, Ekiti, Ogun, Edo, Kogi, Niger, Borno, Benue, Zamfara and Sokoto.
Rising from a meeting in Abuja, the leadership of the union said the affected teachers would embark on what it called “painful strike.”
Addressing reporters in Abuja, the NUT President, Mr. Michael Olukoya, vowed that the strike would continue until the authorities met the union’s demands.
Describing the action of governors of the affected states as “derelict, unpatriotic and self-serving”, Olukoya said they had denied their teachers genuine allowances.
Olukoya lamented that while there was implementation of minimum wages for other categories of workers, the defaulting states deliberately exempted teachers.

JTF Uncovers Lebanese Terror Cell In Kano

The Joint Task Force on Thursday said it had uncovered a Lebanon-based Hezbollah armoury and terror cell in Bompai, Kano State.
photo The Joint Task Force on Thursday said it had uncovered a Lebanon-based Hezbollah armoury and terror cell in Bompai, Kano State.
The force, which said it found large cache of arms and ammunition, also confirmed the arrest of three persons in connection with the armoury and the cell.
A Lebanese national currently out of the country reportedly owns the premises where the armoury and the cell were found at No 3, Gaya Road, Off Bompai Road in the ancient city.
A statement by the JTF spokesman, Captain Ikedichi Iweha, said the JTF operatives, comprising officials of the 3rd Army Brigade in Kano and the State Security Service conducted the operations.
The operatives, he said, uncovered an underground bunker in the premises where large quantities of assorted weapons were hidden.
Iweha, who said the construction of the bunker was special, listed anti-tank weapons, rocket propelled guns and anti-tank/personnel mines as some of the dangerous weapons found in the premises.
He added that the weapons and ammunition were concealed in coolers, drums and bags.
According to him, the latest recovery followed an ongoing robust counter-terrorism investigation by the SSS.
Confirming the existence of a Hezbollah cell in the country, Iweha noted that the SSS had arrested one Mustapha Fawaz, co-owner of Amigo Supermarket and the Wonderland Amusement Park, in Abuja.
The arrest of Fawaz, Iweha said, led to the arrest of another Lebanese terror suspect, Abdullah Tahini, at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport with over$60,000
He added, “Thereafter on May 26, 2013, one Talal Roda, also a Lebanese with a Nigerian Passport, was arrested in the same house.
“All those arrested have confessed to have undergone Hezbollah Terrorist Training and further implicated one Fauzi Fawad, also a co-owner of Amigo Supermarket and Wonderland Amusement Park.”
When one of our correspondents contacted the Director of Defence Information, Brig. Gen. Chris Olukolade, he described the discovery of the arms and the arrest of the Lebanese importers as “a major breakthrough.”
The action of the JTF operatives, he said demonstrated the commitment of security agencies to riding the country of illegal arms.
Meanwhile, the SSS said the weapons  were intended for use against “Israeli and Western interests”.
“This is the handwork of Hezbollah,” Bassey Ettang, director of the SSS said in Kano.
“You can also be sure that if a group like this is existing, then it may even lend support to some of the local terrorists we have on the ground.”
Hezbollah is a Shia military and political movement based in Lebanon considered by the United States to be a terrorist organisation.
The sect was conceived by Muslim clerics and funded by Iran following the Israeli invasion of Lebanon, and was primarily formed to offer resistance to the Israeli occupation.
Its leaders were inspired by former Iranian leader, Ayatollah Khomeini, and its forces were trained and organised by a contingent of Iranian Revolutionary Guards.
Hezbollah’s 1985 manifesto listed its four main goals as “Israel’s final departure from Lebanon as a prelude to its final obliteration.”

How Dame Jonathan Influenced Amaechi’s Suspension

Facts emerging show how the first lady, Dame Patience Jonathan, allegedly influenced the suspension of Rivers State governor Rotimi Amaechi by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
photoAmaechi was suspended by the National Working Committee (NWC) this Monday on the grounds that he violated Articles 58 1(b), (c ), (h) and (m) of the PDP. But the suspension was largely seen as a direct fallout of the election of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) which Amaechi won.
A highly placed source disclosed to LEADERSHIP that a bitter Mrs Jonathan allegedly summoned the members of the NWC and handed down a stern directive to them to immediately place the embattled governor on suspension after Amaechi emerged victorious in the NGF election.
But the directive, according to the source, threw the NWC members into confusion as to what “sins” would be adduced as reason for such action. Some of them, it was disclosed, attempted to argue against it on the basis that such an “extreme measure” was too hasty and that anchoring the reasons on Amaechi’s victory at the NGF polls would portray the NWC as childish.
“It became a case of what and what reason will be strong enough to justify the suspension; even at that, some members suggested that the governor should first of all be summoned to appear before a disciplinary committee of the party before any suspension. Yet somebody was said to have reminded the members that there is no subsisting disciplinary committee in place,” said the source.
At this point, continued the source, a certain petition generated by the newly inaugurated executive of the party in the state, which had been lying unattended to in the secretariat, was exhumed. The content of the petition, which has to do with the failure of the governor to reinstate the suspended elected executive of the Obio/Akpor council became very fanciful and presented an explainable reason for Amaechi’s suspension, the source added.
LEADERSHIP was told that what was done was entirely to please the first lady who allegedly has not hidden her intent to even remove Amaechi from office.
One of such moves, the source continued, was when Mrs Jonathan allegedly met some security chiefs in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital, and instructed them to effect the removal of the governor immediately. “On this, she was politely rebuffed when she was reminded that, in a democracy, it is the lot of only the state House of Assembly to effect the removal of a state governor through impeachment.
Besides, some highly placed Nigerians in government who were placed in the know of the development because of the persistent pressure by the first lady warned the service chiefs to steer clear of the democratic structures and ensure that they cleared any such directive with the president and commander-in-chief whom they are answerable to.
“The issue of clearing from the president became necessary because of the frequency with which the first lady allegedly hands down some directives on the pretext that it originated from Mr President.  On many occasions, the woman had had cause to assign some ‘very bizarre’ duties using the president as a backup.
It got to a hilt that sometimes the president feigned ignorance of such development, at which time it had become too late, as the deed had been done. The implication is that the issue of Amaechi was a plot finally consummated as it was an old-time project allegedly spearheaded by Mrs Jonathan,” the source added.
However, the suspension, the source further revealed, is already generating frightening ripple effects. The NWC is said to be divided down the line, but the members are afraid to revolt in the open. Some of them are said to be miffed at the development and suspect that the first lady may grow to become so overbearing in the party in the days to come, if not checked. “The Amaechi saga is a test case and is a signal that it could get to a time when the party would be used to settle scores, even personal ones at that,” the source stated.
Efforts made to get a response from the spokesman of the first lady, Mr Ayo Asinlu, were futile at press time as he neither picked several calls to his phone nor responded to text messages sent to him.

It’s Rih-naldo! Cristiano Takes A Shine To Pop Star Rihanna

photo
Cristiano Ronaldo can’t hide his glee – or his shiny face – as he grabs a photo op with pop titan Rihanna.

The Real Madrid winger posted a backstage snap of himself posing with the singer on Facebook after watching her perform in concert.

The footie ace – who was at her gig in his native Portugal last night – did his best to look streetwise as he beamed for the camera, nailing a deuces hand gesture.

Rihanna played it cooler, pulling a combative facial expression and crossing her arms.

Ronaldo donned a tight white T-shirt and Mr T-style gold chain for his night out in Lisbon.

However, most notable was the sight of his gleaming mug – suggesting he’d gone overboard applying skin products before heading out.

His barnet appeared equally greasy, with every hair precisely waxed into place.

Rihanna posted an explosive pic of her latest Diamonds World Tour show on Instagram.

The deceptive image appears to show the chart-topper going up in flames.

But worried fans need not fear – the snap is just the result of camera trickery combined with a pyrotechnics display going off behind her.

Jonathan to critics - "Develop your marking scheme and mark us”

President Goodluck Jonathan on Wednesday challenged observers and critics of the administration to develop a marking scheme to appropriately grade the performance of his administration. At the same time the Minister of Finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, and the Minister of National Planning, Shamsudeen Usman, highlighted the performance of the Jonathan administration.

The president said this at the presentation of his midterm scorecard to Nigerians and the global community.

Mr. Jonathan said his two years performance should be compared with those of previous Nigerian leaders and other African leaders.

He challenged those criticising the performance of some Nigerian ministries under his administration to develop a marking scheme, saying for you to mark a student’s script, you must have a marking scheme.

“Develop your marking scheme and mark us,”
the president said.

Earlier, before the president’s speech, government officials including the Minister of Finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, and the Minister of National Planning, Shamsudeen Usman, highlighted the performance of the Jonathan administration.

It’s all success

While highlighting the achievements, Ms. Okonjo-Iweala said the administration has succeeded in several fronts.

In order to reduce corruption in the petrol subsidy payments, the minister said, the number of petrol importers had been reduced from 143 to 32, while several billions of naira had been recovered from marketers indicted in the probe of the subsidy sector and other fraudulent importers being prosecuted.

The minister said Nigeria has reduced its dependence on crude oil as its only major export. She said crude oil export now accounts for only 70 per cent of Nigeria’s exports with the rest being agricultural produce, manufactured goods, and so on.

Mrs. Okonjo-Iweala, while highlighting the economic growth said the exchange rate has remained stable under President Jonathan at between N155-N160 per dollar. She said Nigeria’s external reserves are rising, and inflation has reduced. She said Nigeria’s borrowing has also decreased yearly since 2011.

Other achievements of the administration, according to the Finance Minister, include construction of about 61,800 housing units across Nigeria by the Housing Ministry; an improvement in local cement production to about 28 million metric tonnes, more than local need; and the construction of 13 new rice mills across Nigeria.

She also highlighted the improvement in the rail sector, saying rail users had increased by over 3 million people in the last two years, while more rail gauges, coaches, and routes are being worked and improved upon.

Ms. Okonjo-Iweala said the Federal Government also paved 651km of roads across Nigeria in 2012.

The event was organised by top government functionaries including the Senate President, David Mark; three former heads of state: Yakubu Gowon, Shehu Shagari, and Ernest Shonekan; the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Emeka Ihedioha; and the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Mariam Mukhtar.

Jesse Jackson Commends Jonathan’s Transparency

Jesse Jackson Commends Jonathan’s TransparencyAmerican civil rights activist, Jesse Jackson, after listening in on the presentation of the mid-term report of the transformation agenda of President Goodluck Jonathan, described the latter’s administration as transparent and unequalled in contemporary democracy.

Mr. Jackson, subsequently, urged Nigerians to rally round him in order to entrench democracy and good governance in Nigeria.
Apparently impressed by the achievements listed in the president’s report, Mr. Jackson said with the mid-term report, it is obvious that the ship of the Nigerian nation is sailing in the right course and should be supported by every Nigerian.
The American activist noted that the entire black race in the world has so much expectations from Nigeria as the most populous black Nation on earth and these expectations have to be justified through the implementation of programs which will improve quality of lives and inspire citizens to be productive.
He urged Nigerians to remain positive about their country and uphold its “ideals” at all times.
Speaking in the same vein, former head of the interim government in Liberia, Amos Sawyer, commended Nigeria’s leading role in peace keeping operations in Africa and urged political leaders to bury their differences especially at moments of National challenges.
Speaking earlier at the event, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Pius Anyim, said the Jonathan administration has enlarged the space for public discourse and dissent which are the hallmark of democratic governance.
Mr. Anyim explained that the President has given practical expression to the principles of checks and balances in government adding that “Mr. Presidents’ uncommon restraint at the face of many challenges is a manifestation of a great desire to deepen democratic culture in all aspects of our National life.”
The Minister of Finance and coordinating minister of the economy, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, who gave a general over view of accomplishments in the Transformation Agenda said the fact that Nigeria’s economy is attracting great attention of investors worldwide is an indication that the positive economic indices are not phantom as cynics would want to assert.
Ms. Okonjo-Iweala said the achievements recorded in the transportation, agriculture, manufacturing, power, health and education sectors in the last two years of the Jonathan administration are a result of careful planning, fiscal discipline and unwavering commitment of Mr. President to the total transformation of Nigeria.
