The governor, who was represented by his deputy, Amos Utuama, stated this on Monday in Asaba while responding to resolutions reached by children parliamentarians at the 2013 children’s day celebration.
He said, “All First Class honours students at any university, home or abroad, receive N5m each as bursary award every year.
“The Child Right law has been domesticated, and no child in Delta State must be denied quality education and other basic necessities of life”.
The children parliamentarians, who held their deliberations at the main chamber of the Delta State House of Assembly, urged the state government and the Federal Government to ensure that about 10 million Nigerian children acquire basic education.
The majority leader of the children’s parliament, Miss Jarikpe Constance, who represented Sapele constituency, moved the motion for educating the 10 million Nigerian children and member representing Isoko South II, Master Albert Afoke seconded the motion. Children’s speaker, Miss Onoberihie Elohor, then conducted the debate on voice vote and the yes had it.
Uduaghan noted that his administration’s micro-credit scheme and the entrepreneurship programme were policies aimed at brightening the future, caring and giving hope to the Deltan child.
